Umpires & Officials

Umpiring in Essex is overseen by the Essex Hockey Umpiring Association (EHUA). Their aim is to promote umpiring across the County and to support the development of all umpires

The EHUA also maintains a pool of umpires which are appointed on a weekly basis to the necessary divisions - Men's East League Division 2 and above, and Women's East League Division 1

All umpires operating within the County must be an affiliated member to officiate a match. This affiliation provides umpires with insurance and access to the fantastic coaching and assessing team

    The third year of the England Hockey Championships, a re-brand of the Knockout Cup competitions, is now open for your team to enter.   Based on insight surrounding the Adult and Junior programmes, there were a number of important changes that were made to our programme for the 2017/18 season - which saw more sides enter than ever before.   The England Hockey Championships have been designed to be more inclusive, allowing more of your clubs' respective teams to participate in a national championship, with more evenly contested games.   For more information about each of the Championships please click here to visit the England Hockey Website

  • 0 BBC to broadcast Home Nations games at EuroHockey Championships

    England Hockey is delighted to announce that the BBC will be live broadcasting our men’s and women’s EuroHockey Championship campaign on the website and connected TV’s.   The competition gets underway on Friday 16th August as hosts Belgium face Spain. England’s men will be the first of our teams to take the field as they take on Wales on Saturday 17th August (10:15am BST) before the women’s team meet Ireland the following day at the same time.    There will also be live coverage of the semi-finals, bronze medal and final matches on the BBC’s digital platforms.
